Facebook and Google Ads for Dental Clinics

Facebook Ads for Dentists and Google Ads That Book Patients

The Goat Group runs Facebook ads for dentists and Google Ads for dental clinics across Europe, from implant and full-arch campaigns to aesthetic and orthodontic treatment. Campaigns are optimised on booked and attended patients, not form fills, using our Goat SST server-side tracking, so Meta and Google learn which people actually become patients. The aim is a lower cost per lead and better lead quality.

Facebook ads for dentists: why most campaigns stall

Most clinics that try paid ads end up in the same place. The first month looks promising: the cost per lead is low and form submissions keep arriving. Then reception starts calling those leads and the picture changes. Many don't answer, some don't remember filling in a form, and a few were only curious about the price. The agency reports clicks, reach and cost per lead, while the diary looks much the same as before.

The problem usually isn't the platform. It's what the platform has been told to optimise for. A standard pixel reports a form fill as a success, so Meta's algorithm goes looking for more people who fill in forms, not more people who end up in the chair. At the same time, browser-based tracking loses a growing share of conversions to cookie refusals, iOS privacy settings and ad blockers, so the algorithm learns from incomplete data.

Google has a different problem. Searches for implants and full-arch treatment are among the most valuable in dentistry, which makes them expensive. Without careful structure, budget leaks into searches from dental students, job seekers and people looking for free or DIY options.

Two platforms, two kinds of patient

Meta (Facebook and Instagram) creates demand. It reaches people who haven't started searching yet but have been putting off treatment for months: the missing tooth, the smile they hide in photos, the denture that no longer fits. Video of your own doctors does most of the work here.

Google captures demand. Someone typing “dental implants cost” or “all-on-4 near me” is already comparing clinics. Google Ads for dental implants needs tight keyword control, a landing page for each treatment and a fast reply, because that person is probably contacting two or three clinics the same day.

We run both, give each one a different job and connect them to the same tracking, so you can see which platform brings which patients.

Mistakes we often find in dental ad accounts

  • One campaign for every treatment. Implants, whitening and check-ups compete for the same budget, and the cheapest leads win rather than the most valuable ones.
  • Every click sent to the homepage. A patient who tapped an implant ad has to hunt for the information they came for, and most won't.
  • Discounts instead of trust. Price-led ads attract price shoppers. Ads featuring your own doctors attract people who want to be treated well.
  • No negative keywords on Google. Budget goes on searches for jobs, courses and free treatment.
  • No link between ads and bookings. Without it, nobody can say which campaign produced which patient, so budget decisions are guesswork.

How we work

  1. Audit and strategy call. A free 30-minute call in which we look at your current ad accounts, your tracking and how enquiries are handled at reception.
  2. Treatment priorities. We agree which treatments to push based on chair capacity, margin and demand in your area: typically implants, full-arch rehabilitation, veneers, aligners and general check-ups.
  3. Tracking first. Before launch, we install Goat SST so that bookings, attendance and accepted treatment plans can be sent back to Meta and Google.
  4. Creative with your doctors. Our in-house team films at your clinic and turns the footage into ads, through our dental video production service.
  5. Launch. Meta campaigns to create demand, Google Search and Performance Max to capture it, and a dedicated landing page for each treatment.
  6. Fast follow-up. New leads get a reply within minutes through WhatsApp automation, so they don't go cold before reception calls.
  7. Weekly optimisation. We cut what doesn't book, scale what does and refresh creative before performance drops.

How we measure: patients, not clicks

Goat SST sends real patient events back to the ad platforms through Meta's Conversions API and Google's enhanced conversions: a consultation booked, a patient who turned up, a treatment plan accepted. Data is anonymised on the server, processed on EU infrastructure and covered by a data processing agreement with every clinic.

What most reports show What we report
Clicks and impressions Booked consultations
Cost per lead Cost per patient who attends
Form submissions Accepted treatment plans
Reach Revenue linked to each campaign

Because the algorithms receive this data, they gradually shift spend towards people who resemble your real patients. That's how cost per lead can come down while lead quality goes up.

Who this is for, and who it isn't

This works best for clinics with capacity for more high-value treatment, a reception team that can reply quickly and doctors willing to appear on camera. It also suits clinics that treat international patients; our page on attracting patients from the United Kingdom explains how that market differs.

It isn't the right fit if you want the cheapest possible leads regardless of quality, if nobody can answer enquiries during the day, or if you expect advertising to make up for clinical or service problems. We don't promise a fixed number of patients: results also depend on the quality of your treatment and how reception handles each enquiry.

Proof

V-Medical, in a less exposed city away from the biggest markets, received more than 200 leads in a few months and has consistently attracted high-value patients, with several full-arch implant rehabilitation cases every month. Read the V-Medical case study.

Frequently asked questions

How much should a dental clinic spend on Facebook and Google ads?

There's no single right figure. The budget depends on the treatments you want to grow, how competitive your area is and how many new patients your chairs can take. High-value treatments such as implants usually need a larger budget, because the clicks cost more. On the strategy call we size a sensible starting budget, explain what it can realistically produce and adjust it once real booking data comes in. Our own fee depends on scope and is quoted within 24 hours.

Do you optimise campaigns for leads or for patients?

For patients. With Goat SST, bookings, attendance and accepted treatment plans are sent back to Meta and Google, so the algorithms learn from real outcomes rather than form fills. Cost per lead still matters, but we treat it as an early signal, not the goal. The numbers we report to you are booked consultations, cost per patient and revenue by campaign.

Can you work with our existing ad accounts?

Usually, yes. We start by auditing what's already running: account structure, tracking, audiences and creative. Whatever works stays, and the rest is restructured. Account history can be valuable, but weak conversion tracking is a common problem, so fixing the data the algorithms learn from normally comes before any major increase in spend.

How soon will we see patients from the ads?

In our standard process, campaigns launch in the second week, after the first filming day, and first enquiries usually follow soon after. By the third week, clinics are typically receiving qualified leads from several channels and booking real patients. The algorithms keep improving over the following months as more booking data arrives, so the first month is a starting point rather than the finish line.

Are there restrictions on advertising dental treatments?

Yes. Healthcare advertising is regulated at national level, and professional codes for dentists often add their own rules. Meta and Google also have policies for health-related ads, for example around personal health attributes and certain before-and-after imagery. We review copy and creative against both before launch, avoid promising clinical outcomes and adapt to your market. For legal questions specific to your clinic, check with your professional body or a lawyer.
