Germany, Austria and Switzerland
How to attract German, Austrian and Swiss patients (DACH) to your dental clinic abroad
The Goat Group builds patient-acquisition systems for dental clinics abroad that want German-speaking patients from Germany, Austria and Switzerland: ads run separately per country, doctor video, treatment pages and WhatsApp replies prepared with the clinic's team in German, and server-side tracking that follows each patient to travel and treatment. We work for the clinic, not as a broker, and take no commission per patient.
How to attract German-speaking patients from Germany, Austria and Switzerland
The Goat Group is a European dental marketing agency that builds patient-acquisition systems for dental clinics: paid ads, video production, websites, local SEO, WhatsApp conversion and ChatGPT ads, measured on booked patients, not clicks. For clinics that want patients from Germany, Austria and Switzerland, often grouped as the DACH region, that system rests on one idea: precise, formal, written communication in German, from the first ad to a treatment plan the patient can show their insurer.
We are hired by the clinic, charge no fee per patient and never place ourselves between clinic and patient. What follows is a method, not a report of results with DACH patients; the wider approach is on our dental tourism marketing page.
Is the DACH region right for your clinic?
It is right if:
- You already treat some German-speaking patients, or flights and driving distances from Germany or Austria make the trip realistic.
- A colleague writes professional German and answers enquiries every working day in a formal register.
- Your clinic can provide itemised written plans, invoices and documentation without delay.
It is wrong if:
- You are a patient looking for treatment. We do not recommend clinics or book appointments.
- You are an intermediary. We do not supply leads for resale.
- Nobody in the clinic can correspond in German. A reply in another language usually ends the enquiry.
What German-speaking patients typically want to know
Patients from the DACH region tend to research thoroughly and ask in writing. Expect questions like these:
- Qualifications. Where the dentist trained, how long they have practised and who else is on the team.
- An itemised plan. Each step of the treatment and each cost line, in writing, before they commit to travel.
- Materials and lab work. The implant system, the crowns, the laboratory, and where they come from.
- Insurance. Some patients want to know whether their health insurer may cover part of the cost and which documents it expects. Your team answers what it can, and the patient confirms with the insurer; we do not advise on insurance.
- Follow-up at home. How their own dentist can continue the care, and who at your clinic answers if a question comes up later.
- Schedule. How many trips are needed, how long each stay is and the interval between visits.
A clinic that answers these precisely, in German and in writing, earns a kind of trust that a low price cannot buy.
German, formally, across three countries
- The formal “Sie”. Patients expect German in the formal register. A casual or machine-translated tone quickly reduces trust.
- Three markets. Germany, Austria and Switzerland differ in vocabulary and expectations, and Switzerland uses the Swiss franc. Switzerland also has French- and Italian-speaking regions, so we begin with German-speaking Switzerland.
- Same clock. All three countries use Central European Time. Many patients research in the evening; automated replies acknowledge them at once and state when a colleague will follow up.
Our team works in English, Romanian and Spanish. German content is prepared together with your team and checked by your team before it goes live. We do not write German content for patients on our own.
What we build for DACH patients
- Three campaigns. Meta and Google Ads split into Germany, Austria and Switzerland, each with its own budget and wording.
- Precise first replies. WhatsApp automation in formal German that confirms receipt, asks for the treatment of interest and lists the documents the patient may send.
- Pages that read like a dossier. Treatment pages in German that set out visits, materials, the plan document and aftercare, with doctor video introducing the people behind the plan.
- A plan the insurer can read. With the patient's consent, X-rays and photos are received by your clinic through secure channels we set up. Your dentist then issues a written, itemised plan, which stays provisional until the in-person examination.
- Visit scheduling. Written confirmations of each appointment, the interval between visits and the documents to bring.
- Aftercare in writing. Your clinic's aftercare plan, turned into German pages and messages that state whom to contact and how.
Measuring with Goat SST, country by country
DACH patients often compare several clinics and decide slowly. That delay breaks browser-based tracking. Goat SST, our server-side tracking system, passes the real steps to Meta and Google: consultation booked, first visit attended, treatment accepted. Each of the three countries is reported separately, so budget follows the country where written plans turn into treatment.
Data is anonymised on our servers in the EU. Results also depend on clinical quality and on how your reception answers.
Advertising and data rules in the DACH region
- Rules at home. The medical advertising and professional rules of your own country apply to everything you publish.
- Rules in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Ads aimed at people there may also be judged by their standards, which can be strict, for example on before-and-after images and on how prices are presented.
- Data. If your clinic is in the EU, GDPR applies to all patient data you process, including Swiss patients'. Switzerland also has its own data protection law, which can apply when you advertise to people there. A data processing agreement is signed with every clinic.
- Responsibility. We review the known rules with you before launch; the clinic remains responsible for its advertising.
What your clinic provides
- Access to the ad accounts, the website and the WhatsApp Business number.
- A colleague who corresponds in formal German every working day.
- A filming day with the dentists who will treat DACH patients.
- Calendar access, so consultations and visits are tracked.
- Templates for your itemised plans and invoices, plus the prices you are allowed to publish.

Frequently asked questions
Can you write our German ads and pages?
Our team works in English, Romanian and Spanish. German ads and pages are prepared together with your team and checked by your team before they go live. We contribute the structure, the campaigns, the video and the tracking; a colleague at your clinic who writes formal German answers every enquiry.
Should we run one campaign for the whole DACH region?
Usually not. Germany, Austria and Switzerland differ in vocabulary and expectations, and Switzerland uses the Swiss franc; advertising standards and travel options differ too. Separate campaigns, each with its own wording and budget, show which country brings patients who travel and accept treatment, and let you move budget towards it.
Patients ask whether their insurer will pay. What do we say?
We do not advise on insurance. What helps is an itemised written plan from your clinic that the patient can show their insurer, plus a page listing the documents your clinic can provide. The patient confirms coverage with their own insurer before travelling, and your team handles individual questions case by case.
Does GDPR cover Swiss patients?
If your clinic is in the EU, GDPR applies to all patient data you process, including Swiss patients'. Switzerland also has its own data protection law, which can apply when you advertise to people there. Dental X-rays and photos are health data, received by your clinic through secure channels we set up, with consent. We sign a data processing agreement with every clinic; for legal questions, consult your own lawyer.
Do you already have results with German-speaking patients?
Not publicly. This page describes how we would work, and we have no public dental tourism case study yet. The results in our published case studies come from other markets and are not presented as DACH results. On the strategy call we review your data and give you an honest view of whether the region suits your clinic.
