How much does dental clinic marketing cost in 2026?
Dental clinic marketing has no fixed price in 2026. Your cost is ad spend plus campaign management, video production, landing pages, local SEO and follow-up tools. Judge it on one number: cost per booking, which is your budget divided by booked patients. Set the budget backwards from the new patients you need and the number your team can actually see.
Dental clinic marketing in 2026 has no fixed price. Your cost is the sum of ad spend, campaign management, video production, landing pages, local SEO and the tools that follow up each lead. The number that tells you whether it works is not cost per click or cost per lead. It is cost per booking: your budget divided by the patients who booked. Set the budget backwards from the new patients you need, then check it against how many your team can actually see.
Below you will find each budget line, real funnel numbers from clinics we work with and a formula you can use this week.
What are you actually paying for?
Most proposals bundle several costs into one figure. Split them before you compare offers.
| Budget line | What it covers | What pushes it up |
|---|---|---|
| Ad spend | Money paid directly to Meta, Google and other platforms | Competitive cities, high-value treatments, several languages |
| Campaign management | Structure, audiences, creative testing, daily checks, reporting | Number of platforms, locations and treatments |
| Video and creative | Scripts, filming days, editing, static ads | How often ads need replacing |
| Landing pages and forms | One page and one qualifying form per treatment | Rebuilding instead of improving |
| Local SEO | Google Business Profile, citations, review requests | Number of locations, starting reputation |
| Follow-up and tracking | WhatsApp sequences, CRM, server-side tracking | Lead volume, integrations |
Production is the line clinics underestimate. Ads wear out. A static ad usually lasts 20 to 30 days before results fade, so we plan one filming day a month, which gives about 12 clips. Without fresh material, implant ads can run well for a week and then stop working.
Some costs never appear on an invoice: your reception team's time, your doctors' time on filming days and the consultation slots you need for extra demand. If your diary is already full, more advertising only creates overbooking, no-shows and stress at the front desk.
Keep ad spend and fees on separate lines
Ad spend is what the platforms charge. The fee pays for the people and systems that decide where that money goes. The clinic should pay the platforms directly, from ad accounts it owns, with a spending limit set on the account. That way you always see exactly what reached the market. This is how we run Meta and Google Ads for dental clinics.
Which number should you judge the budget on?
Four formulas cover almost every decision:
- Cost per lead = budget ÷ leads
- Booking rate = booked patients ÷ leads
- Cost per booking = budget ÷ booked patients
- Show-up rate = patients who attended ÷ booked patients
Cost per booking is the main one. The other three each diagnose a different part of the system. Cost per lead tells you about the ad. The booking rate tells you about reception. The show-up rate tells you about confirmations.
The internal figures in this article come from clinics we work with in Romania and the Republic of Moldova, so they are in lei, the Romanian currency. One euro is roughly five lei. Absolute costs will differ in your market. The ratios between the steps are what transfers.
Here is the rule in one line: a lead at 12 lei with 0% booked is worse than a lead at 70 lei with 17% booked. The first looks cheap on a dashboard and produces no patients.
We also write down a ceiling. For our Romanian accounts we use an internal threshold of around 200 lei per booking. Above it, we rewrite the campaign instead of adjusting it. Always read the trend next to that threshold. In one account, cost per booking fell from 3,252 to 415 lei. That is a strong trend, and still more than double the ceiling.
What does a real dental marketing funnel cost?
Two examples from 2025, from clinics we work with.
Implant launch package, January 2025. At one clinic:
| Step | Volume | Cost per step |
|---|---|---|
| Leads | 77 | 21 lei per lead |
| Booked consultations | 20 | 80 lei per booking |
| Patients who attended | 7 | about 231 lei per patient in the chair |
Orthodontics, February 2025. At another clinic: 175 leads at 10–12 lei each, 39 bookings (22%) and 8 patients who attended. That is about 221 lei per patient who attended.
Compare the two. The orthodontic lead cost about half as much as the implant lead. The cost per patient who attended came out almost the same, because far fewer bookings turned into visits. Judged on cost per lead alone, you would have drawn the wrong conclusion.
These results come from the campaign data we have access to, not from the clinics' business figures. They also depend on medical quality, on reception and on capacity.
Why can costs rise when the ads have not changed?
Two forces raise your cost per patient without anyone touching a campaign.
- The auction gets more expensive. On one campaign, the cost per 1,000 impressions (CPM) rose by about 41% in 12 months, from 9.57 to 13.50 lei. Election periods push auction prices up, because political advertisers compete for the same attention.
- The funnel after the lead weakens. Comparing the same December–January window one year to the next, lead-to-booking fell from 19% to 15% and booking-to-attendance from 38% to 30%. Cost per patient who attended rose from 118 to 180 lei, up 52%. The ads were not the problem. What happened after the lead was.
Two working rules follow. If the booking rate drops to zero, stop analysing the ad account and phone the clinic. And always compare 7, 14 and 30 days side by side. Seven days is noise. Thirty days can hide a recent collapse.
How do you set a dental marketing budget?
Work backwards from the result, not forwards from what other clinics spend.
- Set the target. How many new patients a month, and for which treatments?
- Measure your own rates. Booking rate, show-up rate and the share of attended patients who accept a treatment plan.
- Check capacity. Under 5 new patients a month, be cautious. Between 5 and 15 is where a marketing system usually pays off best. From 30 upwards you need a complete system: reception rules, confirmations and tracking.
- Calculate the leads you need. Leads = target ÷ (booking rate × show-up rate × acceptance rate).
- Price it. Ad spend ≈ leads needed × your cost per lead. Then add the fixed lines: management, production and tools.
A worked example (invented numbers)
The figures below only illustrate the method. Suppose a clinic wants 8 new implant patients a month. 25% of leads book, 50% of bookings attend and 40% of those who attend accept a plan.
| Step | Calculation | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Patients who accept a plan | Target | 8 |
| Attended consultations needed | 8 ÷ 0.40 | 20 |
| Bookings needed | 20 ÷ 0.50 | 40 |
| Leads needed | 40 ÷ 0.25 | 160 |
| Ad spend at €25 per lead | 160 × €25 | €4,000 |
Now raise the show-up rate from 50% to 60% with better confirmations. The clinic needs about 34 bookings and 136 leads, which brings ad spend down to about €3,400. Nothing in the ads changed.
Where do dental clinics waste marketing money?
The same leaks come up in almost every account we audit:
- Leads nobody calls. The first call should happen within 24 hours, ideally the same day. If the patient does not answer, try twice a day at different times and send a short "we called you" message. A lead left "to call" for more than 48 hours is an alarm.
- No confirmations. Send a message 48 hours before the appointment and call 24 hours before. In the accounts we see, a show-up rate of 30–40% of bookings counts as normal. Below that, confirmation is the problem.
- Tired creatives. Keep 5 to 10 ads live and replace a third of them every three weeks. In one account, replacing weak videos brought cost per lead down from 70 to 30 lei.
- Tracking that stops at the form. If Meta and Google only see form fills, they find more people who fill in forms. Goat SST, our server-side tracking, sends bookings and visits back so the platforms learn who becomes a patient.
- Ads the rules do not allow. In Romania, the dental profession's ethics code in force since 1 July 2025 bans prices, discounts, vouchers and anything "free" in clinic ads. Your country has its own rules, so check them with your professional body or a lawyer.
The compliant alternative often performs better anyway: a video that explains what shapes the cost of a treatment, with no price in the ad. At one clinic, a video explaining implant costs booked 36% of its leads (4 of 11), against 13.5% for the account as a whole. It stayed the best ad for three weeks running. Our dental video production builds this kind of education-first content with your own doctors.
What should a marketing proposal include?
Use this checklist before you sign:
- Ad spend and fee on separate lines, with ad spend paid from accounts the clinic owns.
- Reporting on cost per booking and cost per patient who attended, not only cost per lead.
- Production in writing, for example one filming day a month.
- How often the account is checked, and how often platform leads are reconciled with your CRM.
- A monthly report and a monthly meeting.
- The target written as an obligation of means, not a guaranteed result.
- A compliance review before anything goes live, with the clinic approving the final version.
- Written confirmation that the clinic owns its ad accounts, data, website and footage.
- A data processing agreement under GDPR with any provider that handles patient data.
How does The Goat Group price its work?
The Goat Group is a European dental marketing agency that builds patient-acquisition systems for dental clinics: paid ads, video production, websites, local SEO, WhatsApp conversion and ChatGPT ads, measured on booked patients, not clicks.
We do not publish prices, because the cost depends on scope: the size of the clinic, the number of locations, the ad budget and the volume of production. After a call, we send a personalised proposal within 24 hours. There is no free trial.
We also check fit before we quote: patient volume, reviews, how fast the clinic replies and whether it has room for more patients. If it cannot be done, we will say so and point you to someone who can. To see what a full system produced at one clinic, read the multi-specialty clinic case study.

Frequently asked questions
What is a good cost per lead for a dental clinic?
There is no universal figure, because it depends on the country, the city, the treatment and the form. In 2025 we analysed more than 12,000 leads for six clinics in Romania and Moldova, and the average cost per lead by ad text ranged from about 22 to 37 lei. That spread is why we judge campaigns on cost per booking instead. A cheap lead that never books is not a win.
What is the difference between ad spend and an agency fee?
Ad spend is the money paid to Meta, Google and other platforms to show your ads. The agency fee pays for strategy, campaign management, creative testing, monitoring and reporting. Keep them as separate lines in any proposal and pay the platforms directly, from ad accounts your clinic owns, with a spending limit set on the account. Then you always know how much of the budget reached the market.
How long does it take for dental marketing to show results?
In our process, week one covers onboarding and scripts, week two filming and launch, and the first leads reach reception in week three. Decisions on cost per booking start in week four. Judging profitability takes longer for implants and full-arch cases, where patients often take weeks or months to decide. Give the system enough booked and attended patients before you judge it.
Does The Goat Group publish its prices?
No. The cost depends on scope: the size of the clinic, the number of locations, the ad budget and the volume of production. After a call we send a personalised proposal within 24 hours. There is no free trial, because every clinic gets forms, scripts and tracking built for it. You can book a 30-minute strategy call that includes an audit of your current setup.
